Dembele Defeats Yamal in a New Round Toward the Ballon d'Or

Ousmane Dembele, star of the French national team and Paris Saint-Germain, outshined Lamine Yamal, the promising forward of Barcelona and the Spanish national team, in a new round of the heated race for the Ballon d'Or award for the world's best player.

According to L'Équipe, citing a poll conducted by the Ipsos network, 44% of French fans believe that Dembele deserves to win the Ballon d'Or due to his prominent role in helping Paris Saint-Germain win the UEFA Champions League title for the first time in its history.

The Parisian giant clinched the European title after a resounding 5-0 victory over Inter Milan in the final held on May 31 at the Allianz Arena, home of Bayern Munich.

The same poll indicated that Yamal ranks second with 21% of the vote, tied with Kylian Mbappe, the French star now playing for Real Madrid.

Yamal won the domestic treble with Barcelona this season and secured the silver medal in the UEFA Nations League with Spain, while Dembele and Mbappe achieved bronze in the Nations League after defeating Germany 2-0.

In his first season with Real Madrid, Mbappe won both the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Intercontinental Cup.
